Türkiye introduced a Tourist Tax
A tourist tax has been introduced in Türkiye since January 1, 2023.
from January 1, a tax on accommodation for tourists began to operate in Türkiye, Turanews.kz reports.
The tourist taxes will be 2 percent of the total amount for accommodation and it will be paid to the state by accommodation facilities – hotels, boarding houses, hotels, campsites, resorts, apart-hotels and guest houses.
It was noted that the tax of 2% of the cost of accommodation is introduced only on hotel stays. Beside, events in hotels – weddings, conventions, conferences and others – will not be taxed if the guests do not stay overnight.
But tourism experts believe that the tourist tax will somehow affect the price of accommodation.
According to Turkish media, only foreign pupils and students will be exempted from paying the tourist tax.
