Türkiye demands the release of Crimean Tatars

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye demanded the release of 5 Crimean Tatars, who were sentenced to 13 years in Crimea.

In a written statement made by the Turkish ministry, “We are concerned about the conviction of our Crimean Tatar kinsmen Cemil Gafarov, Servet Gaziyev, Erfan Osmanov, Alim Karimov and Seyran Murtaza to 13 years in prison with a decision taken today.” statements were included.

The statement reiterated Türkiye’s support for the right of the Crimean Tatars to live freely and safely in their homeland.

“We expect the necessary steps to be taken to ensure that all of our compatriots, who were imprisoned in Crimea for political reasons, including the aforementioned and the Vice President of the Crimean Tatar Milli Majlis Neriman Jalal, Asan Ahmetov and Aziz Ahmetov, who were sentenced in a similar way, will be able to regain their freedom and their families as soon as possible.”
