Türkiye Alumni Association opened in Kazakhstan

Türkiye Alumni Association started its activities in Kazakhstan with the support of Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).

YTB President Abdullah Eren, Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Otandastar Foundation President Abzal Saparbekuly, Türkiye’s Astana Embassy Undersecretary Turhan Dilmac, representatives of Turkish institutions and many graduates from both countries attended the opening ceremony of the association held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana city.

At the ceremony, which started with the singing of the National Anthems of two countries, a video of the first Kazakh students who went to Türkiye to study in 1992 after Kazakhstan gained its independence was shown at the Istanbul Ataturk airport.

In his speech, YTB President Eren said that Kazakhstan was one of the first countries to start sending students to Türkiye among the newly independent Turkic Republics.

Eren also noted that Türkiye has provided scholarships to more than 5,800 Kazakh youth since 1992 year and that YTB currently provides nearly 200 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral scholarships here every year.

It wa stated that a memorandum of understanding of cooperation was signed between YTB and Kazakhstan Otandastar Foundation.

Eren noted that within the scope of their contacts in Astana, they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Otandastar Foundation, which carries out activities for Kazakhstan’s diaspora living abroad.
