Türkiye Achieves Record Tourism Performance in 2023

Türkiye has concluded 2023 with unprecedented success in the tourism sector, marking the best performance in its history.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye, Mehmet Şimşek, through social media, TuraNews.kz reports citing Anadolu Agency.

Minister Şimşek highlighted that the number of visitors to Türkiye in 2023 witnessed a notable increase of 11.1 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 57.1 million people. This figure surpassed the initial year-end target of 56.7 million visitors.

While the tourism revenue slightly missed the target, totaling $54.3 billion instead of the planned $55.6 billion, Minister Şimşek expressed optimism for the future. According to the Medium Term Framework, if the positive trends in tourism persist, expectations include a further increase in visitor numbers to 59.4 million and a rise in tourism revenues to $59.6 billion in the current year.

Looking ahead, Minister Şimşek outlined an ambitious goal for 2028, aiming to achieve $100 billion in tourism revenues with 82.3 million visitors.
