Turkish Professor Hulya Cengel to Deliver Lectures at Kozybayev University
Professor Hulya Kasapoglu Cengel from Türkiye has arrived at Kozybayev University to give a series of lectures to students. A prominent scholar in philology, she specializes in Turkic languages and cultural studies and holds a PhD degree. She teaches at Gazi University in Ankara.
Professor Cengel is widely known for her research on Turkic languages, including studies of the Alash intellectual heritage. More than 100 of her academic articles have been published in international journals and conference proceedings.
Speaking at a meeting with the university’s leadership, she recalled her previous visit in 2023 for events marking the 130th anniversary of Magzhan Zhumabayev. According to the professor, Zhumabayev is respected in Türkiye as a leading figure of the Alash movement and a distinguished representative of Kazakh literature.
She emphasized that Kozybayev University is regarded as one of Kazakhstan’s reputable higher education institutions and expressed interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in literary studies and philology.
Her research focuses on Turkic languages and dialects, including the Kipchak group, as well as the history of Turkic linguistics and writing systems. She is also engaged in comparative phonology and the study of Turkic written monuments and literary heritage.
