Turkish National Team Defeats Czech Republic, Advances to Euro 2024 Round of 16

The Turkish national team secured a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in their final group stage match at Euro 2024, advancing to the Round of 16.

The match took place in Hamburg, where the Czech team played with one fewer player from the 20th minute after Antonin Barak was sent off.

Türkiye’s goals came from Hakan Calhanoglu in the 51st minute and Cenk Tosun in injury time (90+4). Tomas Soucek scored the sole goal for the Czech Republic in the 66th minute. The Czech team faced additional difficulties when forward Tomas Hory received a red card in the 90+8 minute.

In a concurrent Group F match, Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0. Despite this loss, Portugal, with six points, advanced alongside Türkiye, also with six points, and Georgia, with four points. The Czech Republic, having earned only one point, was eliminated from the tournament.

In the Round of 16, Portugal will face Slovenia on July 1 in Frankfurt am Main. Türkiye is set to play against Austria on July 2 in Leipzig, and Georgia will compete against Spain on June 30 in Cologne.
