A Turkish family has embarked on a journey to the 5th World Nomad Games, set to take place in Kazakhstan from September 8 to 13, in a converted bus, TuraNews.kz reports citing Anadolu Agency.
Idil and Burak Duran, along with their two-year-old son Günes Kutluhan, are traveling in a 1982 bus they transformed into a mobile home, which they named “Nomad.” The couple temporarily left their usual life in Istanbul and have been traveling for nine months, sharing their experiences on social media through their page, “Where is it?”
Starting from Ankara, the family plans to cover approximately 5,400 kilometers, passing through Georgia, Russia, and Tatarstan before reaching Astana.
Burak Duran told reporters from Anadoly Agency that their adventure began three years ago when they started converting the bus.
“When we learned that the World Nomad Games would be in Kazakhstan, we decided to embark on a long journey in our ‘Nomad.’ It’s a long road, but we’ve fixed up the bus and are ready. Many thought it was crazy, but we decided to go for it,” Burak shared.
Idil Duran also emphasized the importance of the journey for their family, noting their desire to introduce their son to the culture and nature of their homeland. “We are showing him the beauty of our country, introducing him to the culture, and giving him the chance to live an exciting and educational life. Living in a camper is a great comfort,” she added.
