Turkish Airlines Pilot Dies Mid-Flight, Forcing Emergency Landing in New York
Passengers transferred to another flight after emergency landing due to pilot’s health crisis.
According to The New York Times, 59-year-old Turkish Airlines pilot İlçehin Pehlivan lost consciousness during a flight. Crew members attempted to provide emergency medical assistance, but unfortunately, he could not be saved. The co-pilot then requested permission for an emergency landing at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, where the plane landed safely. Passengers were rebooked on another flight to Istanbul.
The airline stated that Pehlivan had undergone regular medical examinations, with no health issues detected. His last medical check-up took place in March of this year.
