Tughra Art Celebrated at TURKSOY as Part of Turkic-Islamic Heritage

TURKSOY hosted the exhibition “Script of the Sultan, Sultan of Scripts – Tughras” and the conference “Historical Period of the Tughra”, highlighting the cultural significance of tughra art in Turkic-Islamic civilization.

The exhibition featured works by artist İsmet Keten, who also shared insights into the history and types of tughras. The opening ceremony included a musical performance.

During the conference, TURKSOY representative Sait Yusuf emphasized the tughra as an artistic symbol of the Turkic world. Rector of Ankara Music and Fine Arts University Erhan Özden stressed the importance of calligraphy and announced the opening of a traditional arts department at the university.

Experts including Sıddık Çalık, Ayhan Pala, Mehmet Düğmeci, and İsmet Keten presented on the history and unique aspects of tughra art.

The event concluded with a musical performance and certificate distribution.
