Trump threatens 50% tariff on Chinese goods
Former U.S. President Donald Trump warned he will impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports starting April 9 unless China lifts its 34% duty on U.S. goods.

He made the announcement on April 7 via Truth Social.
Trump also said all trade talks with China would be halted.
Since February, his administration has escalated tariffs on Chinese imports from 10% to 20%, and now plans to add another 34%, raising the total to 67% when including previous duties.
China responded with 10–15% tariffs on U.S. coal, LNG, poultry, corn, and cotton, and pledged to raise duties to 34% on all American imports by April 10. Beijing also launched antitrust probes and limited some U.S. exports.
