Key topics on the agenda include increasing member states’ defense spending to 5% of GDP and enhancing NATO’s military capabilities amid current global threats. Leaders are also expected to discuss the situation in Iran and the broader Middle East.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also arrived in The Hague. According to Western media, a bilateral meeting between Trump and Zelensky may occur during a royal reception on the evening of June 24 or on June 25 as part of the summit’s program.
Trump’s administration has been reducing traditional U.S. military aid to Ukraine while urging NATO allies to take on a greater share of defense costs. Meanwhile, the EU and Canada have pledged over €35 billion in additional military support to Ukraine next year.
