Tremor Felt in Southern Kazakhstan as Earthquake Strikes

The Zhambyl region experienced an earthquake, as reported by the Ministry of Emergencies.

The seismic event, registered between 11:00 and 14:00, was detected by the seismic station network of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The epicenter was located 308 kilometers west of Almaty, within Kazakhstan’s territory.

The earthquake had an energy class of 10.2 and a magnitude of 5.3 on the MPV scale, with coordinates placing the epicenter at 42.77° S. E. and 73.18° N. B., at a depth of 25 kilometers.

Reports indicate that Merke village in the Zhambyl region experienced tremors reaching 2 points. Fortunately, there have been no casualties or damages reported thus far, and monitoring efforts are ongoing.
