Tramadol is a strong painkiller from a group of medicines called opiates, or narcotics. It’s used to treat moderate to severe pain, for example after an operation or a serious injury.
Tramadol is included in the list of narcotic drugs by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Now, Tramadol is only available by prescription in the country, Turantimes.kz reports citing the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Government has amended Decree No. 470 “On Approval of the List of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursors Subject to Control in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Summary Table on Classifying Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Their Analogues and Precursors Found in Illicit Traffic as Small, Large and especially large sizes, the List of substituents of hydrogen atoms, halogens and (or) hydroxyl groups in the structural formulas of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances.
The list of narcotic drugs was replenished with the drug “Tramadol”, used as an anesthetic.
The Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan recalled that both administrative and criminal liability is provided for the sale of medicines without a prescription.
