Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Nazym Kyzaibay shared a video on social media capturing a moment of honor: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and boxing icon Gennady Golovkin applauding her victory, Bassport.kz reports.
The footage shows a full arena giving a standing ovation to Kyzaibay. Among those clapping were President Tokayev and Gennady Golovkin, who now serves as president of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee.
“Receiving applause from the President and Gennady Golovkin is a great honor for me,” Kyzaibay wrote in her post.
Earlier this year, during the World Boxing Cup in Astana, Golovkin publicly showed his support by warmly embracing her before her bout.
