Tirana medical students protest government plan
In a protest in front of the parliament building, medical students from the University of Tirana have demanded the abolition of a law that would require them to work in Albania for five years after graduation, Turanews.kz reports.
The students say that the law is unfair and unconstitutional, and that it violates their human rights. They argue that the law will make it difficult for them to find jobs in other countries, and that it will also prevent them from continuing their education in other fields.
The government has defended the law, saying that it is necessary to address the shortage of doctors in Albania. They say that the law gives students a choice: either they can sign a contract to work in Albania for five years, or they can fully pay for their education.
The students have rejected this offer, saying that they are being forced into a choice that they do not want to make. They have vowed to continue protesting until the law is repealed.
