Time Magazine Names Donald Trump “Person of the Year”

Time Magazine has named newly-elected U.S. President Donald Trump "Person of the Year." This marks Trump’s return to the cover of the magazine, which first featured him in 2016.

On December 12, Time Magazine announced Donald Trump as the “Person of the Year” for 2024. Since 1927, Time has recognized influential figures or ideas that have had a significant impact on the world in the past 12 months, regardless of whether they were positive or negative. In 2023, the honor went to Taylor Swift, known for her global influence.

Trump’s selection follows notable figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Duchess of Wales Kate Middleton, entrepreneur Elon Musk, Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, and his wife Yulia Navalnaya, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, podcaster Joe Rogan, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, among others, who were also considered for the title.

Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party, is set to take office in January 2025 for his second presidential term. His campaign was marked by significant controversy, and he secured a landslide victory in the 2024 elections.
