TikTok to Challenge EU’s €530 Million Fine Over Data Privacy in Court
TikTok has announced plans to legally contest the €530 million fine imposed by the European Union over allegations of transferring user data to China, according to Christine Grand, Head of External Affairs for TikTok in Europe.

The company strongly denies the accusation and claims it has invested €12 billion in European server infrastructure to securely store user data. Grand added that Chinese authorities have never requested access to European user data, nor has any such data ever been handed over.
The fine was issued by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, as TikTok is headquartered in Ireland within the EU. Under EU law, user data must be stored within the bloc.
