TikTok Founder Becomes China’s Richest Person Again
Zhang Yiming, the 41-year-old founder of ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, has topped the list of the richest people in China.
According to CNN, the entrepreneur’s wealth increased by $13.6 billion in 2024, reaching $57.5 billion by the end of March 2025.
Zhang Yiming first became China’s richest person in October 2024.
Since its official launch in May 2017, TikTok has rapidly gained popularity worldwide and become a favorite social media platform for many young people across the globe.
In second place is Pony Ma (Ma Huateng), co-founder of the technology company Tencent Holdings, with a fortune of $56.6 billion.
Third place goes to Zhong Shanshan, the founder of Nongfu Spring, a bottled water and soft drink company, with an estimated wealth of $54.1 billion.
