TIKA supports agricultural production in Tajikistan

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) established an "education and production greenhouse" on the campus of Ziraat University, the only university in Tajikistan that carries out studies in the field of agriculture.

In the statement made by TIKA it was stated that 93 percent of Tajikistan’s surface area consists of mountains and only 7 percent of the country is suitable for agricultural activities.

TIKA established a modern training greenhouse on a 450 square meter area within the body of Ziraat University in order to support the agricultural sector in Tajikistan and to produce on limited agricultural lands.

The trainers who went to Tajikistan held a week-long training program on aquaculture and greenhouse cultivation, and after the training, the first seedlings were planted in the greenhouse.

With the project, it is aimed to increase the professional knowledge and experience of the students at the university, to support applied training, to provide them with experience in the field and to contribute to the education and scientific studies of the university in the field of agriculture.

In the strategic plan prepared especially for the development of greenhouse cultivation in Tajikistan, it is aimed to establish 30 thousand hectares of greenhouses by 2030.
