Three agreements signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed three agreements in various fields between the two countries on Monday, Turanews.kz report citing Anadolu Agency.

The agreements were signed during a one-day working visit by Erdoğan to Nakhchivan, an autonomous republic within Azerbaijan.

The three agreements are:

  • Protocol of Intent between the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Kars-Nakhchivan Railway Project
  • Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the construction of residential buildings, a primary school, a kindergarten, and a cultural center in the province of Kahramanmaraş Republic of Türkiye
  • Document providing for the continuation of existing cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye and the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan in the field of electricity

The Kars-Nakhchivan Railway Project is a major infrastructure project that will link Türkiye and Azerbaijan by rail. The project is expected to boost trade and tourism between the two countries.

The Cooperation Agreement for the construction of residential buildings, a primary school, a kindergarten, and a cultural center in Kahramanmaraş is a sign of Türkiye’s support for Azerbaijan’s reconstruction efforts in the Karabakh region.

The document providing for the continuation of cooperation in the field of electricity is aimed at strengthening energy security in both Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
