On March 4-5, the spring festival of hunting with birds of prey “Golden Eagle 2023” was organized in Mongolia near Ulaanbaatar city. announced by Mongolian local media with reference to statement of Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the country, Turanews.kz reports.
According to the organizers, about 19 hunters with golden eagles aged 17 to 69 from the Mongolian regions of Bayan-Ulgiy, Selenge and Tuv and about 10,000 visitors, including foreign tourists from more than ten countries, took part in the current festival.
The event was aimed at popularizing the culture of ethnic Kazakhs, developing tourism in Mongolia affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and increasing the flow of foreign tourists to the country.
Within the framework of the festival, a number of events were held, including the equestrian parade of hunters with eagles, the Kazakh national game with the participation of a group of riders /kokpar/ and an exhibition-fair of Kazakh national handicrafts.
The Eagle Festival is being held in Mongolia twice a year – in spring and autumn.
Last summer, the Mongolian government decided to declare 2023 and 2024 the Years of Visiting Mongolia. This festival is included in the list of more than 90 events aimed at promoting the tourism sector affected by the pandemic.
