Professor Wesley Hill who is an expert of the business environment in the USA, he shared his opinion with Kazinform Agency about the future of the Organization of Turkic States.
Along with Hill, an another expert noted that the United States looks forward to the strengthening of the Organization of Turkic States and the tenth summit to be held in Kazakhstan in 2023.
Hill pointed out that there are many advantages of the Organization of Turkic States: The Organization will strengthen regional and cultural ties in the Central Asian bloc, make the corridor of goods transportation to the European Union through Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Central Asia more reliable, and help the Central Asian countries to invest in their economy.
And the expert of the business environment in the USA said that the USA supports the financial, logistics and energy projects undertaken within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States. According to him, the USA views this organization as a very important structure that includes Europe with the necessary energy resources. Moreover, the American side does not consider the Organization as a competitor in the European energy market. Because the European Union’s demand for energy resources is very large at the moment.
However, experts have different opinions about which of the member states of the Turkic Organization is the most important partner for the United States.
Wesley Hill believes that the US is particularly close to Türkiye and Azerbaijan. For Washington, Ankara is the most reliable partner in the region, despite the conflict of positions on some issues. And Azerbaijan is probably an important partner for the USA from the point of view of the energy security of Europe.
The expert of the business environment in the USA thinks that Astana is the most important partner for the USA after Ankara. According to him, Türkiye’s policy in the region is consistent with Washington’s position. And in Kazakhstan, the share of American business dominates. The history of economic relations between the two countries is rich.
Both experts said that they have a neutral view of the cooperation of the US-Türkiye organization in the security issue, and that they believe that economic and diplomatic relations should take precedence over military cooperation in relations within the organization.
