Today marks the commencement of the Year of Kazakhstani Tourism in China with an opening ceremony held in Beijing. The event, scheduled for March 28 and 29, will feature various activities involving delegations from both Kazakhstan and China.

The festivities kicked off with the Kazakh-Chinese Tourism and Investment Forum, where Ermek Marzhikpayev, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, delivered an inaugural address.

Marzhikpayev emphasized the significance of the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in the People’s Republic of China as a milestone event fostering stronger ties between the two nations. He expressed optimism that the dialogue initiated during the forum would pave the way for enhanced cooperation in the tourism sector, opening new avenues for partnership.

Highlighting Kazakhstan’s rich nomadic culture, centuries-old history, and unique natural landscapes, Marzhikpayev underscored the country’s immense tourism potential, aiming to make these treasures accessible to all travelers.

The forum also saw the participation of Sun Li, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, along with Kairat Sadvakasov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC Kazakh Tourism, who presented a comprehensive overview of Kazakhstan’s attractions and tourism offerings.

Sadvakasov highlighted Kazakhstan as a premier destination for Chinese tourists, emphasizing its status as a friendly neighboring country with a visa-free regime and a strategic partner in the Belt and Road Initiative. He outlined the concept of “Eco-Ethnic-Entertainment-Events” tourism, encompassing ecotourism, ethnotourism, entertainment, and events.

The Tourism and Investment Forum featured two panel sessions focusing on organized tourism opportunities for Chinese travelers and investment prospects in the Kazakh-Chinese tourism sector. The discussions were moderated by Erzhan Erkinbayev, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, and Timur Nakhipbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Atameken.

The event also included a unique exhibition showcasing the attractions of all 17 regions of Kazakhstan, providing participants with insights into the country’s diverse cultural and natural heritage.

As the forum concluded, several memorandums were signed between Kazakhstani and Chinese counterparts, solidifying commitments to collaboration in the tourism industry.

Tomorrow, on March 29, attendees can anticipate the official opening ceremony of the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China, featuring an ethno-aul with cultural activities and a grand gala concert featuring renowned Kazakhstani artists.
