The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus dies at 64

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei dies at the age of 65, Belta reports citing to the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic Anatoly Glaz.

“The minister passed away suddenly a few hours ago. There were no spesific signs. Actually, yesterday we discussed even plans for the week. A big loss for all of us,” the agency quotes as saying. The cause of death has not been reported.

Vladimir Makei was born in 1958 and graduated from the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and the Diplomatic Academy of the Austrian Foreign Ministry. In 2000-2008 he served as Assistant to the President of Belarus, in 2008-2012 – Head of the Administration of the President of Belarus.

Vladimir Makei served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus since 22 August 2012. He had the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
