The Founding Ceremony of the Turkic Judicial Training Network was held in Istanbul

Hosted by the Justice Academy of the Republic of Türkiye, the Founding Ceremony of the Turkic Judicial Training Network was held in Istanbul on 12 December 2022. The meeting was attended by the Heads of the Justice Academies and the Judiciary Training Institutions of the Member and Observer States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

At the opening session, H.E. Hasan Yılmaz, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Sadi Jafarov, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Mr. Muhittin Özdemir, President of the Justice Academy of Türkiye and Heads of the Justice Academies and the Judiciary Training Institutions delivered speeches regarding the prospective cooperation opportunities in the field of justice. Parties also underlined the importance of the Network, which will ensure the further development of the cooperation in the multilateral format.

Parties further emphasized that training of judges, prosecutors, and candidate/assistant judges and prosecutors serves strengthening the rule of law and stated that establishment of this Network will facilitate cooperation and coordination in the field of judicial training.

As the outcome of the meeting, Parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the Turkic Judicial Training Network between the Member and Observer States of the OTS, which will draw the institutional frame for the cooperation among the Judicial Training Institutions under the umbrella of the OTS.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegations visited the Istanbul Justice Palace and got acquainted with the Turkey’s best practices in the field of justice.
