The first floating gas production platform for the Sakarya field has been delivered to Türkiye

The 300-meter-long platform will accommodate 165 workers.

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced on the X social network that the platform arrived in Canakkale after a 51-day journey from Singapore.

“We welcomed our Floating Production Facility, which set off from Singapore on July 30, in Çanakkale. The facility will begin production at the Sakarya Gas Field in 2026, following procedures in Çanakkale and Filyos. It will serve as our offshore production base, 170 kilometers from the coast,” Bayraktar wrote.

The Sakarya gas field, discovered by Türkiye’s TPAO, holds over 700 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Production at the field began last year, with plans to increase output to 15 billion cubic meters annually, covering about 30% of Türkiye’s current gas needs.

The 300-meter-long platform will accommodate 165 workers.
