The first cargo train, which departed from Izmir and passed through Iran and Turkmenistan via Lake Van, reached Uzbekistan, was greeted with a ceremony at the Tashkent Railway Station.
Turkey’s Tashkent Ambassador Olgan Bekar, Uzbekistan State Railways General Manager Husniddin Hasilov and other Uzbek and Turkish officials and many members of the press were present at the ceremony.
In his speech here, Ambassador Bekar said that the said train service is a clear example of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s policy towards diversifying the country’s transportation corridors.
Bekar stated that works are continuing within the Organization of Turkish States (OTS), especially for the development of economic relations and accordingly to increase the transportation corridors, and emphasized that they are very pleased that the first freight train carrying export products between Turkey and Uzbekistan arrives in Uzbekistan today.
Train reached Tashkent in 25 days
Uzbek Railway Container Enterprise official Zair Mirzayev reminded that at the OTS summit held in Samarkand in November, an agreement was reached on the development of rail and container transportation between the member countries of the organization, and in this context, Uzbekistan State Railways cooperated with Turkey’s Pacific Eurasia Logistics and MFA Logistics companies. , Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan on the new railway route, cargo transportation has been implemented for the first time.
Pointing out that the first cargo train reached Tashkent in 25 days, Mirzayev emphasized that this 4,500-kilometer long route, which is being used for the first time for rail freight transportation, is closer than other routes.
