Tajikistan transfers local airline airports to Ministry of Defense

The government of Tajikistan has adopted a resolution to transfer the airports of local airlines from the municipal property of cities and regions to the republican property and to the balance of the Ministry of Defense of the republic, Turanews.kz reports.

The resolution, which was adopted on August 31, 2023, was published on the legal information portal of the Ministry of Justice.

According to the resolution, the Ministry of Defense will receive the airports of the Farkhor district and the Hamadoni district of the Khatlon region, which will be written off from the balance of the Central Committee of the Public Organization for Defense Assistance of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Isfara airport will be written off from the balance of Khujand International Airport OJSC.

In addition, 18 local airline airports from the municipal property of cities and regions will be transferred to the defense department.

The Ministry of Defense is entrusted with the funds allocated for military service as part of the mobilization conscription reserve to ensure the restoration and permanent readiness of airports.

Currently, flights are operated only from four international airports in the country: Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, and Kulob.
