Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have delimited a disputed section of their border, Turanews.kz reports.
The head of the State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy of Tajikistan, Orif Khojazoda announced that the two countries held seven meetings between their topographic commissions to finalize the delimitation of the 101.86-kilometer section of the border. _
The delimitation of the disputed section of the border is a significant step towards improving relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The two countries have had a long history of border disputes, and the delimitation of this section of the border is a sign of progress in resolving these disputes.
Recall that from January 23 to 30 this year in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, negotiations were held between government delegations of the two countries. During the talks, the parties also touched upon the process of creating technological demarcation maps, conducted field inspections of certain sections of the Uzbek-Tajik state border.
As a result of the meetings, the parties agreed on certain issues and signed the relevant document.
