Support for Women’s Entrepreneurship Grows in Kyrgyzstan

The concept of "women's entrepreneurship" has been officially incorporated into Kyrgyzstan's legislation.

On December 4, 2024, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed amendments to the law titled “On the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights,” which had been approved earlier by the Parliament. This was reported by TuraNews.kz, citing Kazinform.

The law aims to strengthen state support for women’s entrepreneurship, improve access to financing, and create conditions to increase women’s employment in Kyrgyzstan’s economy.

The term “women’s entrepreneurship” now includes the following:

  • Women operating as individual entrepreneurs;
  • Legal entities registered in Kyrgyzstan engaged in commercial activities, where at least 51% of shares or stakes are owned by women, and at least 51% of employees are women.
