Reports indicate that 11 schools and 8 kindergartens were among the 19 educational facilities affected by the adverse weather conditions.
The mayor’s office disclosed that the majority of the damage involved destruction to roofing materials, with some areas also witnessing fallen trees on school and kindergarten premises. Efforts are underway by relevant authorities to clear the debris caused by the fallen trees. A commission will be formed to assess the extent of the damage as cleanup operations progress.
It has been announced that a comprehensive inspection will be conducted on all educational facilities within the capital to ensure safety standards. Specifically, the commission will scrutinize buildings where roof repairs were previously undertaken.
It is worth noting that schoolchildren across Kyrgyzstan are currently on vacation until April 1, 2024, while kindergartens are operating as usual.
Earlier measures were taken in response to the severe weather conditions, with authorities declaring a state of emergency in Bishkek.
