Slovenia Officially Recognizes the State of Palestine

52 deputies of Slovenia's 90-seat parliament voted to recognize the State of Palestine.

The decision came after the opposition Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) withdrew their referendum proposal just before the parliamentary session on Tuesday evening. The SDS deputies left the meeting, allowing the remaining members to proceed with the vote.

“Today’s recognition of Palestine as a sovereign and independent state brings hope to the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip,” said Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob in a social media post.

This official recognition marks a hopeful moment for the Palestinian people and highlights Slovenia’s stance on international diplomatic issues.
