Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets Turkish Parliament Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
On May 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed a delegation from Türkiye's Grand National Assembly, led by its chairman, Numan Kurtulmus, during an official visit to Uzbekistan, according to the president’s press service.
The Turkish Parliament Chairman conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to President Mirziyoyev.
Both parties discussed ways to enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership and bilateral relations.
They expressed satisfaction with the current high level of cooperation, noting the active contacts and exchanges happening at all levels.
Trade and investment between the two countries are on the rise, with an increasing number of joint projects and enterprises, and more frequent flights. Joint cultural events are also being held, and strong ties have been established between their legislative bodies.
The meeting highlighted the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations, with active involvement from friendship groups and specialized committees to shape the agenda for Uzbek-Turkish cooperation and oversee the implementation of high-level agreements.
They also focused on promoting investment programs and boosting tourism, business, and educational exchanges.
The discussion included prospects for parliamentary cooperation within international organizations, particularly the Organization of Turkic States.
