Several Roads Closed Across Kazakhstan Due to Blizzard Conditions

Traffic restrictions were introduced on a number of national highways across Kazakhstan on January 27 amid severe weather conditions and technical issues, according to the national road operator KazAvtoZhol.

The company reported that vehicle movement has been suspended in several regions. In Mangystau and Atyrau regions, large sections of the Dossor–Aktau highway, along with roads leading toward the Uzbek border, have been closed.

In Kostanay Region, traffic has been halted on routes toward Arkalyk, Tobyl and Sarykol. Temporary restrictions are also in place on certain sections of the Astana–Kostanay and Zhezkazgan–Petropavlovsk highways in Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions.

In Pavlodar Region, access toward Astana has been blocked due to damage to a bridge near the village of Kalkaman.

Road authorities advise drivers to maintain safe distances and avoid speeding. Up-to-date information on road conditions is available 24/7 through the 1403 contact center.
