Anna Fedorovna Kazachenko was born on May 20, 1916, in the village of Laptilok, Altai Territory, into a peasant family. Her father, Fyodor Demyanovich Kalinin, died in the civil war, leaving her mother to raise five children alone. From the age of eight, Anna took care of her younger siblings, and by sixteen, she was working on a collective farm.
