Scientists: persimmon helps the body cope with coronavirus

Scientists at Nara Medical University in Kashihara (Japan) said that persimmon helps the body cope with coronavirus infection.

According to the results of a study published in the journal Scientific Reports, a high content of tannin was found in persimmons. During the experiment, scientists began to introduce the substance into the diet of rodents, and then exposed them to coronavirus infection.

After a thorough examination, it turned out that the group of experimental hamsters who did not receive tannin showed a high level of viral load, and they developed pulmonary pneumonia. In the group of rodents treated with tannin, no cases of pneumonia were recorded, and in general, the rodents of the second group felt much better.

Thus, the researchers conclude that tannin, which is contained in persimmons, prevents the reproduction of the virus, and the use of persimmons reduces the risk of developing severe forms of COVID-19.

In addition to tannin, persimmon contains a lot of vitamins – A, C, B1, B2, B3, as well as phosphorus, calcium, potassium, iron and sodium.
