Scientific Restoration of Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Underway

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, undertook a work-related journey to the Turkestan region, during which he toured the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi. His visit aimed to evaluate advancements in conserving this remarkable architectural gem and UNESCO World Heritage site, aligning with governmental directives.

The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is an integral part of the Turkestan architectural and historical complex, drawing over a million visitors annually. Efforts to maintain its structural integrity are vital due to the impact of natural elements, aimed at safeguarding its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Since August of last year, reconstruction efforts have been underway, with the installation of sensors to monitor environmental and climatic influences within the mausoleum.

Scientific restoration work is also in progress, with the Head of Government underscoring the significance of preserving this cultural monument.

“The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is not only a cherished heritage of the Kazakh people but also a treasure for all of humanity. The President has instructed us to preserve its historical essence, a task that we collectively share. Special attention must be paid to the mausoleum’s condition,” stated Olzhas Bektenov. He further assured that the government would extend full support to these preservation efforts.
