In Tashkent and Fergana, law enforcement caught individuals promising to send residents on the Hajj pilgrimage in exchange for money, as reported by the press service of the State Security Service.
In Tashkent, two scammers from a travel company were detained after they gained a resident’s trust and demanded $18,000 to prepare documents for his parents’ Hajj visas. They were caught in the act of receiving $4,000.
In another incident, the head of a travel agency in the Yunusabad region demanded $9,500 to send a resident on the 2024 Hajj. He was apprehended after receiving $5,700.
Additionally, a previously convicted individual in the Shaykhantokhur district promised to send two residents to Hajj for $20,000. He was caught after receiving $10,000.
In the Fergana region, a travel agency manager was arrested for promising to send a resident from the Tashlok region and his two minor children on the Hajj for $30,000. He was caught receiving $15,000.
Another fraudster from the Yezvon district was caught receiving $16,000, promising a resident of the Kuva region to send him and his parents on a pilgrimage.
Criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals, and investigative actions are ongoing. Authorities urge citizens not to be deceived by scammers and to protect their money.
