“Samruk-Kazyna” Transfers Its Shares in Şekerbank to İlbak Holding

The process of transferring shares of Şekerbank, amounting to 12.06 percent of the paid capital, to the Turkish company İlbak Holding has begun.

This information was announced in a statement by the bank, published on the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), TuraNews.kz reports.

“The process of transferring shares, owned by Samruk-Kazyna Invest LLP and representing 12.06% of Şekerbank’s paid capital, to İlbak Holding A.Ş. has started,” the statement said.

İlbak Holding is one of the largest Turkish conglomerates, involved in mining, marketing communications, media, tourism, printing services, real estate development, and food production. The holding company Ströer Kentvizyon handles billboard installations, bus stops, and outdoor advertising in Istanbul and Ankara.

It is worth noting that in 2007, BTA (Bank TuranAlem) acquired 34 percent of the shares in Turkish Şekerbank. In 2009, BTA Bank was nationalized, and its former owner, Mukhtar Ablyazov (2005-2009), was put on the international wanted list. On July 4, 2014, KAZKOM and the Rakishev Private Investors Council each bought 46.5% of the shares of BTA Bank from the “Samruk-Kazyna” fund.
