Salmon exports from Türkiye’s Eastern Black Sea region soar

The volume of salmon exports from Türkiye’s Eastern Black Sea region increased by 97% in the first 7 months of 2023, reaching $91.4 million, according to Turanews.kz.

In total, 14,107 tons of salmon were exported from the region during this period, up 118% from the same period in 2022.

The main recipients of Turkish salmon were Russia, Vietnam, and Belarus.

The increase in exports is attributed to a number of factors, including the growing demand for salmon in global markets, the favorable exchange rate of the Turkish lira, and the high quality of Turkish salmon.

The Eastern Black Sea region is a major producer of salmon in Türkiye. The region’s cold climate and abundant water resources are ideal for salmon farming.

The Turkish government is also supporting the salmon farming industry by providing subsidies and tax breaks.
