The initiative to host the event in Russia was put forth by Oleg Matytsin, the Minister of Sports of Russia in the VI International Ethnosport Festival in Antalya, Türkiye.
During his working visit, Matytsin met with Osman Ashkin Bak, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Türkiye, and Necmettin Bilal Erdogan, the President of the World Ethnic Sports Confederation.
Minister Matytsin emphasized the significance of traditional sports development in Russia, citing the country’s diverse population consisting of over 190 ethnic groups, each with its own sporting traditions. He expressed Russia’s readiness to host the prestigious international event in Kazan in 2025, promising exceptional service and organization standards. Matytsin believes that hosting the festival in Russia will foster the growth of original cultures and bring together vibrant ethnic competitions on a global stage.
The VI International Ethnosport Festival took place from February 16 to 18, 2024, in Antalya under the auspices of the World Ethnosports Confederation. The ethnosport forum is held alternately in Türkiye and other interested states. Specific details regarding the dates and venue of the 2025 ethnosport festival in Russia will be announced later.
