Russia Proposes Nuclear Power Plant Project in Kazakhstan, Offering Rosatom’s Expertise

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia has formally presented proposals to support the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, with Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom prepared to provide its expertise.

Lavrov made the statement during a press conference following his recent visit to Kazakhstan, as reported by TASS.

Lavrov emphasized that Russia is not only willing to assist but has already put forward concrete proposals. He highlighted the importance of the recent referendum held by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where Tokayev received public support for expanding the country’s nuclear energy capabilities. Lavrov assured that Rosatom stands ready to fully contribute its technical knowledge to advance this development in partnership with Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Lavrov noted that Russia is open to similar collaborations with nuclear energy agencies and structures in other countries, underlining Moscow’s broader commitment to international nuclear energy cooperation.
