Rosatom and Kyrgyzstan Sign Investment Agreement on Wind Farm Construction
Rosatom Renewable Energy (a subsidiary of Rosatom Corporation) and the Kyrgyzstan Government have signed an investment agreement to collaborate in the field of wind energy.
According to Trend, the agreement was signed by Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev; Rosatom Renewable Energy CEO, Grigory Nazarov; and NovaWind Kyrgyzstan CEO, Dmitry Andreev.
The agreement entails the implementation of a 100 MW wind farm project in Kok-Moynok village, Balakchi city, Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the sale of electricity generated by the wind park. Project design and equipment procurement are scheduled to commence in 2025.
“Signing this agreement is another significant step in the systematic development of renewable energy projects in our partner countries. Rosatom possesses all the necessary expertise in the construction and operation of wind farms. The total capacity of wind energy projects implemented in Russia has already surpassed 1 gigawatt. I am confident that such facilities will not only enhance the quality and reliability of the energy system but also create new jobs and skill development for residents of the republic,” said Grigory Nazarov.
It is noteworthy that in September 2024, a time capsule was laid at the site of the future wind farm construction.
