Sergei Dvortsev, a celebrated director hailing from the southern region of Kazakhstan, has expressed his intention to create a world-class historical film centered around Turkestan. The Akim (Governor) of the Turkestan region, Darkhan Satybaldy, recently held a meeting with Dvortsev to discuss the ambitious project, TuraNews.kz reports.
The film, categorized as an adventure drama based on real events, is expected to feature foreign artists and renowned movie stars from Kazakhstan. While the script is currently shrouded in secrecy, it is known that the narrative will include portrayals of historical figures. Filming for certain segments of the movie is scheduled to take place in Turkestan and Karnak, as reported by TuraNews.kz.
Sergei Dvortsev, acclaimed for his work on the film “Ayka,” which starred Kazakh actress Samal Yeslyamova and earned her the “Best Actress” award at the Cannes Film Festival, revealed his grand plans for the new project.
“This will be a very significant undertaking. Preparations are in progress for a mega-project that will involve participants from various countries, including international movie stars. Casting will also be conducted in Kazakhstan. This subject matter is of great importance to me and holds personal significance. Over the last eight months, I’ve been delving into historical facts, studying materials written in Iranian and Chinese. I am inspired and ready to gather materials to astonish the world. This will be a unique creation that won’t fade into archives in 2-3 years but will endure for a long time,” commented Sergei Dvortsevoy.
The director expressed his commitment to contributing to the advancement of Kazakh cinema and highlighted the involvement of not only representatives from Kazakhstan but also European funds in the film’s production.
