Gadilbek Shalakhmetov was a distinguished figure in Kazakh journalism, celebrated for his multifaceted contributions as a publicist, playwright, and esteemed academician of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences. His intellectual legacy includes an impressive repertoire of over 300 scientific and opinion-editorial articles.
Born in 1943 in the Astrakhan region, Shalakhmetov pursued his education at the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for his illustrious career.
Throughout his professional journey, Shalakhmetov held various significant roles. From 2002 to 2004, he served as the President of Kazinform Kazakh News Agency, demonstrating his leadership and dedication to the advancement of Kazakh media.
Subsequently, from 2004 to 2007, he served as a deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, contributing his expertise to legislative matters and governance.
In 2009, Shalakhmetov assumed the leadership of the TV, Radio, and Communications Department at the esteemed Gumilev Eurasian National University, where he continued to inspire and mentor future generations of media professionals.
