Protests in Astana: Oil workers left by train for Zhanaozen

“KazMunayGas” the state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan has confirmed that The oil workers protesting in Astana left the capital city for Zhanaozen, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of the oil and gas company.

“The ex-employees of “the BerAli Mangistau Company” were released from detain and left by train for Zhanaozen. An agreement was concluded between the contact group of KMG and representatives of the BerAli Mangystau Company to establish a special working commission that will consider the claims of former employees of the company for their further resolution in the legal field” the press release says.

According to the information, the commission will include 10 representatives from among the ex-employees of the BerAli Mangistau Company.

The press service of the company also added that the rest of the ex-employees of the enterprise, detained by law enforcement agencies, were previously released and at 08:57 left Astana by train for Zhanaozen.

Recall that on April 10, dismissed workers of the “BerAli Mangistau Company” from Zhanaozen gathered near the building of the Ministry of Energy in Astana and demanded to be employed in the subsidiary of KazMunayGas, the OzenMunaiGas company.

Making a press release about they being left without work due to their company lost the tender workers, spent the night outside. On the evening of April 11, the protesters were detained by the police for an unsanctioned rally.
