Presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Hold Key Talks in Astana

The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan met for important discussions in Astana, focusing on strengthening ties between the two nations. The talks, held in a narrow format, were part of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Kazakhstan.

Before the discussions, a formal welcoming ceremony took place at the Akorda Presidential Palace. The ceremony included the introduction of official delegations from both countries, a report from the honor guard, and the playing of the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

In a warm welcome, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan emphasized the significance of President Mirziyoyev’s visit. Tokayev highlighted the positive changes in relations between the two countries in recent years and expressed commitment to further enhancing their cooperation.

“I would like to note that the people of Kazakhstan are paying great attention to your visit. This says a lot. In recent years, the atmosphere of relations between our countries has changed dramatically for the better. We will make every effort to fill our cooperation with concrete content. This visit is of great importance, since we will sign documents that will define specific areas of cooperation and alliance between our states,” President Tokayev said.

President Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the historical importance of the visit, noting that it would strengthen the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.

“Today’s visit is of historical significance. Our meeting will further strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two peoples and will take the relations of strategic partnership and alliance to a new level,” President Mirziyoyev stated.

During their talks, the presidents discussed ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including politics, trade and economics, transport and transit, investment, energy, agriculture, water resources, culture, and industry. They also addressed regional and international issues.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development of Kazakh-Uzbek relations and committed to working together to ensure continued progress across all areas of mutual interest.
