Tokayev wins 81.31% of vote, according to Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan

The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan released the results of the preliminary results. Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev won Sunday’s presidential re-election with over 81.3% of the vote, according to the results.

The vote counting ended by today. It stated that 8,300,046 out of 11,953,465 voters went to the poll.

Kazinform agency reports that Tokayev won over 6.4 million votes, securing an easy victory against five candidates.

“The people have clearly expressed their confidence in me and we have to justify it,” 69-year-old Tokayev said as the results emerged.

Tokayev called Sunday’s presidential election in September.
