President Tokayev’s Busy Diplomatic Week Ahead

Kazakhstan is set for an intense week of high-level diplomacy as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosts a series of significant international engagements from May 28 to 31.

On May 28–29, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan. The two sides are expected to discuss future cooperation and sign several bilateral agreements, according to Akorda’s press service.

On May 28, President Tokayev will also meet Anke Rehlinger, President of the Bundesrat of Germany, underscoring Kazakhstan’s deepening ties with Europe.

Simultaneously, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova of North Macedonia will arrive in Astana for a working visit from May 28 to 29.

Another key European official, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, is also scheduled to visit Astana for bilateral talks during the same period.

On May 29, Tokayev will participate in the Astana International Forum (AIF), where he is expected to hold discussions with heads of international organizations and global companies.

In a significant development on May 30, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will arrive in Kazakhstan for an official visit. On the same day, Astana will host the first-ever “Central Asia – Italy” summit, bringing together regional leaders and marking a milestone in multilateral cooperation.

Concluding the week, on May 31, President Tokayev will attend a memorial event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repressions and Famine.
