During a recent working visit to Khiva, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, alongside President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took the opportunity to explore one of Uzbekistan's exemplary light industry enterprises, the Hiva GILAMLARI carpet weaving factory.
Established in 1977, the factory has undergone complete reconstruction and modernization under new investment. It currently operates four workshops with a combined production capacity of 4.2 million square meters of carpet products annually.
The visiting heads of state were given a tour of the factory, including its acrylic yarn production workshop, weaving facilities, and showroom displaying finished carpets.
According to Kamol Abdullaev, the factory director, its carpets are not only supplied to the domestic market but also exported to CIS countries, China, and the USA.
Following the factory visit, the presidents explored an exhibition showcasing industrial goods from Uzbekistan. The pavilions featured a diverse array of products, including specialized equipment, electrical goods, horticultural innovations, textiles, chemicals, foods, pharmaceuticals, as well as silk, leather, and jewelry.
During discussions, President Tokayev and President Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of establishing export-oriented enterprises in border areas. They also stressed the importance of collaborative efforts, including reforestation initiatives in the Aral Sea basin, to address environmental challenges in the region.
